Delivered in Partnership with Montgomery County Recreation Department and open to all Clubs and players in the region.
This is recreation level futsal, games only, and a ton of fun!
Season Starts January 5th and runs for 8 weeks (see below).
Games are played on Sundays in accordance with the schedule below.
Fast games. Fast courts. Fast feet... It's all about skills and agility in the Futsal arena.
Developed by Juan Carlos Ceriani in 1930 in Uruguay, futsal brought that country fame when they won the 1930 World Cup and gold medals in the 1924 and 1928 Summer Olympics. The game became extremely popular and just happened to be a great use of basketball courts during the Winter season.
The game is played 5v5 in two 20-minute halves with a 5-15 minute halftime. This may seem like a short game to full field outdoor soccer players, but the speed of the game and the size of the space ensures many touches on the ball and lot's of energy will be spent.
There is no question that soccer players come away from a futsal experience as better technical players - better with ball handling, better with passing, etc. It's a great way to stay in shape too!
