Moving our partnership forward with the Stoke City Potters (English Premier League) and Global Image Sports (GIS), our President, David Dejewski, is in Atlanta representing our Club. This is a photo taken last night of Dave and Gareth Jennings, the Academy Director for Stoke City.
After a busy day of fieldwork (where Gareth coached the Club representatives from each of the State representative clubs), classroom time, and a late night coaching session with the 2002 Atlanta State Cup winners, the partnership between the Damascus Soccer Club, GIS, and Stoke City is taking shape.
Today, Dave meets with Paul Lakin, the Chief Commercial Officer for Stoke City to further clarify the business objectives for the partnership.
What's certain is this: a path now exists for players in our region to find their way into the English Premier League (EPL) as a professional player for those who wish to pursue this path. For everyone else (our majority): access to the Stoke City International Academy or Academy staff, Stoke City coaching content/curriculum support, opportunities to identify through ID/Training camps, and access to discounted Stoke City merchandise are all in our immediate future. We expect that our first ID/Training camps to kick off in the second quarter of 2018!
"The experience with Stoke City coaching is well organized, focused, and fluid - with each new exercise building on the last one in a way that clearly improves the performance of players. We saw it happen twice first-hand. The first time with us coaches acting as players, and the second time with the 2002 age group. Gareth Jennings has a hawk-like instinct for spotting opportunities to fine-tune performance. This was a lot of fun!"
